My New Toys

Posted on Feb 07, 2010 under Welcome | 1 Comment

Hey guys, Lyla here!  I got to try out my new toys 2 weeks ago.  I don’t quite get the hang of it yet but I had fun looking at all the animals.  I found the one item I could put in my mouth!  I also liked looking at the pandas.  Soon my feet will touch the ground and I can jump away!!!!

Naps are always a struggle at our house.  She wants to sleep but for some reason she rarely does.  Now that Lyla is rolling over I get the above a lot in the crib.

Oscar Update

Posted on Jan 27, 2010 under Family | No Comment

It has been a little under 2 weeks since we found out Oscar’s heart is failing.  He was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy with congestive heart failure.  The vets said basically his heart is beating to fast for his body which is what caused the fluid to build up in his chest.  We are hopeful with medication he will still be with us for a couple more years.    We went in last week for a follow up chest x-ray and the fluid started to come back in his chest but not nearly as much as before.  The vet said with the meds his body should be able to process this fluid but we need to keep an eye on his breathing.  He really seems to be doing well.  He is eating, drinking and continues to play with Seepy and Meesha.  We love Oscar and will continue to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes.

I am a day late but our little princess turned 3 months yesterday!!

Some things Lyla is doing at 3 months:

  1. Talking and laughing every day.
  2. Rolling over.
  3. Sleeping in her crib (This was a tough one for me).
  4. Sitting in her bumbo chair.
  5. Chewing on her hands and drooling up a storm.
  6. Grabbing at objects put in front of her body.
  7. Loving tummy time

Here are some 3 month pictures!

So grown up!

So much has changed in the past couple weeks!  You always here, “They grow up so fast”, and I am beginning to understand this all to well.  In the past week alone Lyla has been rolling over from her back to side and front every day.  She also likes to sit in her bumbo.

I have never felt more strongly about these 3 words.  As everyone knows we love our 3 cats very very much.  They are as much a part of the family as me, Justin and Lyla are.  Lately we noticed Oscar, aka Buddy, has had some problems coughing up his hairballs and his breathing has been a bit labored so we decided to take him into the vet just to get checked, no big deal.  When we mentioned the breathing problems to the vet she said we can do a chest x-ray if you want to see what is going on and we said yes.  Better safe then sorry.  After what felt like FOREVER she came back into the room and said it was not good news.  He has A LOT of fluid in his chest and some in his lungs.  They needed to drain the fluid as soon as possible otherwise it will keep building up and he will suffocate to death.  She said we were lucky we brought him in when we did as he would not have made it much longer with all the fluid.  We could not believe it.  We both broke down.  We have never had any issues with any of our cats so this was such a big shock.  We said please do whatever you have to do.  His heart rate was very high and with being sedated there is always a chance he won’t make it out.  She said it was best to say our good-bye’s just in case.  We again broke down.

Two hours later we got the phone call that Oscar was fine and he did great.  She said they drained a little over 1 cup of fluid out of his chest which she was very happy about.  They will be sending the fluid out to the lab to find out what is wrong.  She said he either has cancer or some sort of leaking from something (can’t remember what she said) in his chest.  We should find out in the next 1-2 days.  We are very happy to have Oscar home with us.  The Dr said he should be much more comfortable now that he can breath better.  We love you Oscar!!!  Please pray for our friend Oscar.

My View

Hey guys, Lyla here.  I have been practicing really hard on lifting my head.  Sometimes I get frustrated but practice makes perfect, right?  I got a tummy time mat for Christmas.  I will admit, the view from here is much better.

Sometimes mom moves my legs for me when I am up on my arms and I “crawl”.  Can’t wait!!!  I also have started kicking my legs and trying to roll over.  It it hard for mom to get a picture of me but maybe soon.
